An inspiration for those of us hoping to wean ourselves off of foreign oil and fracking, these two 3 megawatt turbines can be seen from Draco Hill. The manufacturer, Acciona, claims they are the largest wind turbines ever constructed in North America.

If these are the ones off of X40 they are near me. I would really like to stop and talk tot he folks on the S curve North of Tipton on 38 that have two small turbines. Would love to be completely self sufficient. Cut the cord, what a beautiful sound that will be ;>)
These are the massive ones up by Mechanicsville. We’ve done a lot of research on wind, but went with solar – more efficient, fewer moving parts, less maintenance.
