It’s been a wild ride in the weather department this year, but for those of us who follow the science, it’s no surprise. Due to the wet Spring, the Asian pears got scab. I sprayed with Neem Oil (an organic treatment) as quickly as possible to keep it from spreading. Looks like it worked, but we’ll have to see how they turn out. This is how they looked in the Spring. I’m happy to report most of them look better than this now.

The heartnuts and chestnuts are coming on strong though. It’s shaping up to be a wonderful Chestnut Festival this year (save the date – Oct. 18th!)

There are so many WWOOFers to thank! We’ve had a great year so far with them. Our feature photo shows our latest visitors were Lance (in the back) and Aidan helping spray the trees with a mineral called zinc sulfate. They were hungry for it!
