Everyone’s talking about what an amazing fruit year it is here in Iowa. Maybe it’s climate change. Maybe it’s just the ebb and flow of how these things go. Maybe it’s because the trees think they’re dying due to the drought, so they’re giving it their best to reproduce.
All we know is that we can’t keep up. The branches are breaking under the weight of the growing fruit. Still, we’ve processed apples from our neighbors, with more to come, and the peaches are about to really come in full force. We’ll be freeze drying most of this for dry storage, keeping room in our chest freezer for our neighbors’ wonderful apple cider!
