The Heat Wave is Over!

What survives 110 degrees in an Iowa August? The native plants of course! They LOVE this weather. But now the heat wave has broken and we’re back to normal weather, whatever normal is anymore.

End of August means back-to-school which means even more seclusion and quiet for our Hipcampers and other visitors. At Draco Hill Farm it means a massive Bailey peach harvest about to start, dropping new piles of “fungal duff” near our young fruit-bearing trees and bushes still creating their own and getting the chain saw chains sharpened for when the weather turns cooler.

It also means marveling at the cool season grasses in the prairie.
