Cedar County Naturalist Sarah Subbert, facing the camera in black shorts, shares her extra prairie seed with visitors who were welcome to take them home and plant them.
It IS possible to farm and rebuild natural habitat in the same place at the same time in Iowa.
Visit Draco Hill and experience positive change on Iowa’s landscape.
Enjoy a wide array of on-farm and natural experiences. Events include a Picnic in the Prairie, Winter Solstice Bonfire, fresh fruit and nut tastings, birdwatching, nature photography and more – all FREE!
Guests who take a full guided farm tour first are invited to visit unsupervised to hike, birdwatch, forage and take photos.
Sign yourself or a group up for bonfires, picking fruit in the orchards or watching a prairie burn. Chainsaw safety, mushrooming, birdwatching – it’s all going to happen here at Draco Hill in 2025 thanks to our many friends!
Choose whichever events and experiences you want to participate in throughout the year.
You are our guests, so let us know you’re coming! Owners Suzan and Paul just want to share their joy in the work they do to restore land, water and food farming in Iowa.
