
Late October turned out to be perfect for Draco Hill’s first Chestnut Festival. About 30 guests enjoyed the most perfect Fall weather, fresh warm chestnuts and sample of heartnuts and hazelnuts.
Guests were greeted with a taste of a fresh, warm chestnut as they arrived. Most were pleasantly surprised by how sweet they are.
At one fire pit, a guest did her best to roast chestnuts over the fire. At another, co-host Paul handed out s’mores fixings and sticks to anyone wanted a classic dessert. And at the barbeques, co-host Suzan got another batch of chestnuts warmed up.
Meanwhile, at the samples table WWOOFer Nicky handed out freebies and sold gourds by the piece and chestnuts by the pound.
“Beautiful day! Thank you!” wrote one guest. “Thank you. As always, a great time here,” wrote another.
